Week 10: Spotify Wrapped, Saltburn, and Queen Bey

All November, teens gear up for Spotify Wrapped to be released at the beginning of December. A representation of your musical taste— or is it? In reality, it is just a nicely-wrapped culmination of the year’s stats, a reminder of how much information big corporations have on you. It also promotes a sense of exclusivity, suggesting that the only music that matters is the music streamed on Spotify. Although it is funny and interesting to see how your musical taste was over the years, Spotify Wrapper has many drawbacks that make one wonder if it is worth the hype.

If you’ve seen any kind of review for the new celebrity-studded film, Saltburn, then you know how wild it gets. Starring Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan, this complex and disturbing story of a poor college student being introduced to the upper echelons of society leaves the viewer stunned, and not always in a good way.

Beyoncé's new concert film, "Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé," dropped on December 1. It takes us backstage during her six-month-long Renaissance world tour, revealing both the challenges and victories. Beyoncé gets real about juggling motherhood, marriage, and her career. She gives props to her team and pays homage to her album's influences. In the film, she embraces her 40s, saying, "I don't give a f-ck." A must-watch for fans and anyone curious about the life of a living legend.
